Here are Steve’s answers to a few of our interview questions:

What qualities are required to do this job?

I use the word “tenacity” a lot and it applies to every part of working at Sponge NB – the calls, the research and making sure your clients support you.

What are your greatest strengths?

I have ideas – not occasionally, but every day. I can’t remember a day where we weren’t able to find better ways of doing things here. It’s part of why I still love it after more than six years.

What are your greatest weaknesses?

I’m shockingly messy in the office, though Nikki fixes that. I sometimes come across as sarcastic in the office and have to check myself (sorry team…)

What are your favourite books?

The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas, with a few other contenders including Long Voyage Back by Luke Rhinehart and the inspiring Pedalling to Hawaii by Stevie Smith (my wife and I got drunk with him when he was speaking at a local club).

What outside interests do you have that you can tell me a bit about?

I’m a keen mountain biker (as I write, my leg is still suffering from a crash a couple of weeks ago….) and I’m a member of my local Round Table (which means I’ve been Santa on a sleigh several times). I’m a season ticket holder at a football team which shall remain unnamed in case you support someone else.
